The Regulations came into force on 1 December 2014 (reg 1), but regulation 2(1) gives the Part 2 shared-parental-leave provisions effect only in relation to children whose expected week of birth begins on or after 5 April 2015 — which is the date this record carries, because no regulation 6 calculation could be made before it.",
      "article": "Shared Parental Leave Regulations 2014 regs 1, 2(1), 6(1), 6(10)"
    },
    "scope_note": "52 is the GROSS figure the calculation starts from, and nobody receives it as shared parental leave: regulation 6(1) subtracts the maternity weeks already taken, and 6(4) and (5) subtract what the other parent has notified. GOV.UK's familiar 50 weeks is this 52 less the two compulsory weeks of maternity leave after the birth — the MAXIMUM, in the case where the mother takes no more than the compulsory period. That is arithmetic over two limbs, so it is a D14 derivation and a separate record, never this one; and it is not yet authored, because the compulsory two weeks are stated by regulation 8 of the Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999 and that instrument's as-made text is not archived, so the limb has no carry evidence to stand on. The parallel adoption calculation is regulation 22 and is a different provision. The 52 weeks of statutory maternity LEAVE, from which this 52 is borrowed, is a separate figure again.",
    "notes": "An SI carry (ADR-0014), and a HOST-STATES one: the only F-note on regulation 6 substitutes a word in paragraph (5)(c) (SI 2015/552 regs 1, 2(2)) and nothing touches paragraph (1), so the 2014 Regulations state the value by their own words and their as-made text is its own frozen witness. Both documents are hashed into this record and the verdict recomputed at Gate 2. The locator carries paragraph (1)'s own subject clause because \"is 52 weeks less\" appears five times in the instrument — regs 6(1), 6(2), 6(3), 22(1) and 22(2) — and only the words \"to M and P\" make it this provision. Dated 5 April 2015 rather than 1 December 2014, which is where this row parts company with the SPLIT-days row of the same instrument: regulation 37 sits in Part 5 and regulation 2 does not confine it, while regulation 6 is in Part 2 and regulation 2(1) does.",
