Scope: ONE limb of three, published separately because the statute states them separately: s.162(2) defines "the appropriate amount" in three lettered paragraphs and this record is paragraph (b) alone. The other two are Redundancy pay: weeks per year of service, under 22 and Redundancy pay: weeks per year of service, age 41 and over. The week's pay each multiplier is applied to is the one Employment Rights Act 1996 s.234 defines and s.227 caps (Maximum week's pay (redundancy and unfair dismissal)), so the money a year of employment is worth moves every April while these numbers do not. Subsections (4), (5) and (8) — the taper that cut the payment by a twelfth for each month after the employee's 64th birthday — were REPEALED on 1 October 2006 by the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 (S.I. 2006/1031), so no age ceiling survives; the age FLOORS in subsection (2) itself were not touched and are the bands these three records carry.

Compiler's notes

An act carry (N1): s.162(2)(b) states the multiplier in WORDS — "one week's pay" — and no substring matcher derives a form of the number from them, so the locator is a hand-authored LOCATORS phrase read from the paragraph itself; the GOV.UK sentence is registered in B_EVIDENCE for the nightly. The token carries the paragraph's whole limb because the three are told apart by their AGE clause and not by the multiplier. FOUR F-notes stand on s.162 — "S. 162(4)(5)(8) repealed (1.10.2006)", "S. 162(7) repealed (15.12.1999)" and two separate substitutions of words in s. 162(6), on 1.8.1998 and 1.10.2006 — and NONE touches subsection (2), so the probe reaches ACT-HOLDS on the subsection's own untouched words without needing D-RD-1's touched-other-words relief; the ten C-notes recorded on the block modify Part 11's application, not its text. The value is a ratio and not a count: one and a half weeks' pay is not a whole number of weeks, and writing the middle limb as the float 1.0 keeps the three one scale rather than a count sitting between two fractions. effective_from is the Act's own commencement, 22 August 1996, read from the archived section's own version list: legislation.gov.uk publishes s. 162 in five point-in-time versions and the earliest DATED one is "1996-08-22" (<atom:link rel=".../hasVersion" title="1996-08-22"/>, standing between "enacted" and "1998-08-01"), the Act itself having been passed on 22 May 1996 (<ukm:EnactmentDate Date="1996-05-22"/>) — two months, as s. 243 provides. s. 243 itself is not archived, so the date is READ FROM THE VERSION LIST rather than quoted from the commencement section; it is the date the three ERA 1996 rows authored in wave 1 already carry.
