The number is free. What you pay for is its form.

The confirmed figure is public: GOV.UK publishes today's rates — and, once announced, next April's too — as prose, and we serve every current and past value free forever, on the site, the API and the MCP server. What no one else gives you is that figure as signed, machine-readable, effective-dated data with provenance you can verify without trusting us, and the announced future value delivered as data ahead of its effective date rather than a press release. That is the paid product.

Concretely, a key buys the as-of history and changes endpoints, the announced future values ahead of effect (each individually signed) and the machine-readable regulatory calendar, real-time bulk of the latest release, and higher limits. Company adds a signed per-figure audit-evidence bundle and email alerts when a confirmed future value publishes. Vendors embedding the feed in their own product take a custom licence. These are live capabilities: the calendar and the announced-value endpoints carry a value only once a statutory change is announced — the first will be at the Autumn Budget — never a number ahead of that. On the free surface a scheduled change shows its date, never its value.
