Protective award: maximum period (days)

The longest period, in days, an employer can be ordered to keep paying staff it failed to consult before collective redundancies.

180days
Primary source only Act of Parliament Great Britain in force since 2026-04-06

Checked against its sources: statute verified 2026-09-21

Scope: Doubled from 90 to 180 days by the Employment Rights Act 2025 for dismissals from 6 April 2026. GOV.UK's redundancy-consultation page states no maximum, so the record has no guidance source and is single_source_A by design.

Compiler's notes

An act carry: the only touching amendment is the 6.4.2026 substitution that put 180 there — provenance by an Act on the value's own start date. The 1995 sidenote amendment on the section heading is a heading operation and does not touch (4).
