Scope: Eleven consecutive hours in every 24, and CONSECUTIVE is the word that matters: two separate blocks do not satisfy it. A young worker gets twelve under regulation 10(2), a separate figure (Young workers: daily rest period (hours)), and regulation 10(3) lets a young worker's period be interrupted where an adult's may not. Where the Part 3 exceptions (regs 18 to 27A) switch regulation 10 off for particular work, regulation 24 gives an equivalent period of compensatory rest instead, which is a different entitlement.

Compiler's notes
An SI carry (ADR-0014), and a HOST-STATES one under D18 §2: SI 2002/3128 reg 11 substituted "An adult worker" with "A worker", and its located span prints no part of the eleven hours, so the amendment touched other words of the provision and not the value. Read the pair with Young workers: daily rest period (hours) in paragraph (2) of the same regulation: that one needed no relief, because nothing has amended (2) at all.
