Northern Ireland: maximum redundancy payment and basic award

The ceiling on a Northern Ireland redundancy payment or unfair dismissal basic award: twenty years at a capped week and a half’s pay.

Derivation verified Derived Northern Ireland in force since 2026-04-06

Checked against its sources: statute verified 2026-09-21

Scope: A CEILING reached only by an employee with twenty or more reckonable years all served at or after forty-one and a week's pay at or above the statutory limit; every other case is less. Northern Ireland only — the GB maximum (Maximum statutory redundancy pay) rests on a different Order with a different base and is never coupled to this one, and the two sums genuinely differ. The limbs are Northern Ireland: maximum week's pay for awards and the multipliers art 197 states; this record is only their product (D14), and the build refuses a build in which they disagree.

How it is worked out: 20 × 1.5 × Northern Ireland: maximum week's pay for awards — recomputed from its corroborated inputs on every build.

Compiler's notes

Not a figure any document states, which is why it is a derivation and not a carry. No GOV.UK page states the Northern Ireland limits (guidance is on nidirect and nibusinessinfo, outside OFFICIAL_B_DOMAINS), so like every other ni_rights row this one has no guidance source; both limbs are cited as legislation instead. No matching invariant is declared on Northern Ireland: maximum week's pay for awards: FM-7 already recomputes this derivation at every build, and a declared identity saying the same thing would be the silent duplicate ADR-0012 step 4 removed elsewhere. Read from the archived current view of the Order (2026-09-08): arts 197(1) to (3) carry no F-note at all — every F-note on art 197 comes from S.R. 2006/261 and touches only paragraphs (4), (5), (6) and (8) — so the multipliers are 1996 text as enacted.
